Dream Retention – Sequel

November 10, 2006 jeansdream

Movie sequel is usually less interesting and less appealing to the audience than the first one. How about blog post sequel? I’m going to try “dream retention” one more attempt.

This morning when I was “reciting” my dreams when I was still at bed, I already anticipated that I might have forgotten everything soon. So, I started to explore ways to beat this “0” retention problem.

“Post-it notes.” I can write down the major points as reminder. What… no la, you must be kidding yourself. Sit up to write that down while I still remember that – can almost guarantee yourself that you won’t be able to snooze after.

“Tell hubby.” … xxx … next

“Keep a mp3 at arm’s length.” When I am reciting, I can talk to the mp3. This may work.

On the way to work, I asked my hubby to turn the radio down “so I can try to remember my dreams”. “What for,” he said. “It’s better to have more rest; don’t waste energy to try to remember something you’re not supposed to remember.”

Good question – what for. “I am writing a dream blog! I need to remember my dreams…” my inner voice answered.

Do I? Really, who cares if I don’t remember my dreams.

Probably none.

But perhaps some day when I am retired and I become a professional bream blogger, then I will pursue the mp3 option.

For now, if the dream is “gig” enough to remember with the normal effort, that’s probably good enough to blog. Otherwise, I have a “blog day off”. 😉

I like the idea of post-it not to write down the notes. Richard Branson writes down notes to help him remember ideas.

You start by writing about dreams but you may be able to turn this into a plot or story-line for a short screenplay or something creative.

Nothing venture, nothing gain. Collecting notes and writing post-its are like gathering ingredients to cook a meal. I think it is good to keep them, you never know which one will be interesting and which one not.
